Which Is The Correct Spelling?

The term where ‘y’ is added to the formal word aunt is used for adding endearment.  It is an informal version of the word aunt, and the word ‘aunty’ is mostly used in British English.

The term where ‘ie’ is added to the formal word aunt is a more casual version and is used to address someone close.  The term auntie is mainly used in American English.

– The only part that is making me happy about this Thanksgiving is that I will get to meet my auntie.
