A Student Life Essay On Personal Growth: Unlearning Everything That I Believed

by Anindita Dey

Personal growth is perhaps one of the most vital factors that can make you feel better, give you a strong sense of self-achievement, and actually help you to grow. Because we keep talking about growth, personal, and professional. But we never actually discuss what growth means.

Several years ago, I received an opportunity to write a general student life essay about personal growth. At that time, I was a student and everything seemed so vague – growth seemed so quantitative that for the longest time, I never thought about subjective growth could be.

Years later, when I have the space to rethink, I can’t help but change my thoughts on personal growth in a student’s life.

Stay tuned to find out more.

A Student Life Essay On Personal Growth: Unlearning Everything That I Believed!

There’s no such thing as a good student life essay in English – yep, sorry for breaking your bubble if you thought, you can read this blog, and come up with an answer for your English paper.

Just kidding, you totally can – my work here is to show there are more than one way to view personal growth. So, here we go!

“Remember, growing might feel like breaking at first.”

1. Personal Growth And Pace:

Personal Growth And Pace

The perfect student life essay PDF version exists and you can definitely take help from those essays. But, but, but sometimes, an essay is not about a generalized viewpoint. Sometimes, a good essay is also about how YOU feel, and not about how EVERYONE else feels.

Because every student is a different individual – working at their own pace. Everyone has their own pace. Just a few good grades at mid-terms doesn’t signify personal growth.

Personal growth is also about your entire journey, the obstacles you encountered during your journey, and more importantly, how did you face those challenges. Could you come up with a solution? Did you make mistakes? Did you fail? If you did fail, how did you handle failure?

Society has this habit of pointing out that everyone needs to do everything at a SIMILAR pace. But that necessarily cannot be true.

Every student is unique, which basically means every student will have their own approach for decision-making, planning, research, problem-solving, and overall productivity.

“Growth is often uncomfortable, messy, and full of feelings, you weren’t expecting, but it’s neccessary”

2. Personal Growth And Exposure:

Personal Growth And Exposure

Exposure perhaps plays the most vital role behind personal growth and development. For everyone wondering how, let me give you one example. I started working as a writer last year – I was working in marketing for four years before that.

When you switch job roles in the middle of your career, it can be an exhausting and honestly a scary affair. But surprisingly, more than a year later, I have my own team with a good salary package – what happened, do you think?

I was exposed to content from a very young age and that helped in my personal growth. The more books I read, blogs I reviewed, and platforms I tracked, I grew – and not just professionally, but also personally.

When I was a student, I had a habit of reading a new book every other week – just one of those nerdy addictions. But years later I can realize the value that was added in the process – the value in terms of exposure.

While writing a genuine student life essay, don’t shy away from talking about exposure, and of course, privilege. Because believe me or not, both are factors that play a very vital role behind your growth as a student.

“Just because, it’s hard doesn’t mean it’s impossible. You can definitely do it.”

3. Personal Growth And Environment:

Personal Growth And Environment

A thriving, healthy environment can prove to be pivotal in terms of achieving personal growth. At the same time, a toxic enviroment can have a heavy impact on a student’s well-being, development, and more importantly growth.

For instance, you are studying in a setting where it is nearly impossible to focus then how will you learn anything? As compared to a noisy, disturbing environment, if you have a distraction-free environment, you are slated to do so much better.

The question is – do you have a distraction-free environment or are you stuck in an atmosphere that doesn’t permit you to focus?

Figure that out and do your part to change what’s hampering your growth – if it’s your environment then thing how you will face this challenge, how you can solve the problem, and most importantly, if you are not able to solve the problem, how are you dealing with the same?

“Scared? Good. We don’t grow when we stay inside our comfort zone.”

4. Personal Growth And Failure:

Personal Growth And Failure

Are you looking for ‘student life essay in Hindi’ or even ‘student life essay in Nepal’ on Google – then stop! Because we have just arrived on the most important part of this blog – yep, failure!

We have all failed at some point – I mean, failure always doesn’t need to be quantitative or professional.

Failure can be something as simple as reaching late at school everyday – improving your productivity can start with reaching on time. And personal growth can also be in terms of fixing things that were hindering your growth in the past.

Because at the end of the day, it’s about how you are achieving growth – and before you taste success, you need to see failure.

Failure doesn’t mean you have to fail a subject, but at the same time, if you do fail, what’s the harm? You failed – accept the reality. Your next step would be to find out how you can grow from that failure, how you can change your reality, and more importantly, how you handle failure.

“Allow yourself to be a beginner. No one starts off being excellent.”

And That’s A Wrap!

And that’s a wrap! I know it’s not your usual student life essay – but sometimes, you need to unlearn and relearn. And it might seem confusing at the moment but trust me on this one – you will get clarity as time passes.

But do tell me what are your thoughts on personal growth? Feel free to share your thoughts, stories, and experiences in the comments below.
