How Many Letters Are In The Alphabet? Repeat It, Please!

Alphabet

The modern English alphabet that we see on our smartphone screens owes its origin to Italy in the 7th Century BC. The Latin alphabet served as the foundation of many younger alphabets( German, French, and English – all of them are in this together.)

In the Old English alphabet, 23 of the modern ones were present (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T, V, X, Y, Z). the information was recorded by Byrhtferð, a monk in 1011. That leaves J, U, and W in the league of the new letters ( they fit in quite nicely).

There were other Old English letters that we no longer use. Later, there used to be 27 letters in the alphabet until 1835. All the letters we have today were there.

1. Letters In Arabic Alphabet

Guess which language has beaten English with two more letters in the alphabet? It is Arabic. They have 28 alphabets. Surprisingly, the cursive letters of Arabic are written from the left side to the right side, and all of them are consonants.

But there are different symbols and short vowel-making signs and markers of pronunciation to help. I am sure you did not need me to write down all the English alphabet. But you need to know about Arabic letters.

2. Letters In Spanish Alphabets

The Spanish alphabet has all the same letters as English ( guess who copies others’ homework) Except for one additional letter, “ñ,” which comes after “n.” They had 27 letters until 2010. After 2010, they introduced “ch” and “ll” as two new letters with two distinct pronunciations.

What is the 19th letter of the alphabet again? It is “S” silly.

Final Words

How many letters are in the alphabet? Although this question sounds pretty dull, the answers might be different. Yes, you could be asking about the Hebrew alphabet or the Spanish alphabet. But, if you are asking about the English alphabet, then please don’t expect me to write all the English Letters starting from A to Z.

I hope that explains the answer to your question. If you have any further queries, I am ready to reply when you are ready to ask.
