My Garden Essay Within 500+ Words
The city is like a tired old man with insomnia. It never sleeps and is forever awake with all these machines, vehicles, and busy people crawling through it like insects. The honking cars, the screeching of the airplanes, and the tireless industry machinery buzz like crickets – it is chaos. But, amid this chaos, my little balcony garden is my escape from the world – my peaceful heaven in the midst of chaos.
We cannot be in two places at once. But we can make two places reside together. That is where my idea for gardening comes from. I cannot stay in the calm, green, and peaceful cold of the hill forests or have the sweet smell of the flowers from the meadows. But I can make a replica of that in the small garden at home. That is how my little balcony is.
My Garden
I live in a small Flat in the city, and I don’t have any piece of land to build a garden on. However, having no land did not stop me. I made a small garden out of my balcony. I have a small Balcony at my flat, and I decided to turn it into a small garden.
Arranging My Garden
One weekend, I went to the nursery with my elder brother, who was also interested in my idea. We had so many flowers we could pick from, and this made me feel indecisive. I spent more than three hours going around the nursery and finally decided to get some saplings for my little garden.
I did not forget to pick some moss roses and rain lilies since they can grow almost anywhere. But, apart from them, I chose red roses, pansies, jasmine, and aloe-vera. Yes, I was starting small with a selected few plants. When I was returning from the nursery, my heart was almost aching to take home the ones I could not get this time.
But when I came back home, my brother and I spent the rest of the day potting, arranging, and watering the plants we brought home. Most of the flowering plants we brought that day bloom during the summer and the monsoon.
Why My Garden Is Important To Me
I kept on adding new plants to my collection. I went to the nursery and picked up different seasonal plants almost every month. Little by little, my garden was growing greener, clad with flowers, and prettier. My garden became my little hideout when I needed some peace and comfort. When I am not studying or helping my mother with household work, I come to my garden. I bring my favorite storybooks here and immerse myself in the world of adventure while sitting surrounded by my garden.
This garden is the only touch of nature I can see in the jungle of concrete that surrounds me. Urban life has its advantages, but, when I hear the call of the wild, the only place I have to turn towards is my balcony garden.
In conclusion, it is the only place where I feel at ease and at peace. I love the smell of the flowers that bloom in my garden. When the air comes inside the room through the balcony, my garden acts like a filter to purify it. My garden is precious to me, and I cannot live a day without my garden.
My Garden Essay within 400+ words
I have always had a great love for nature and various aspects of it like birds, trees, animals etc., instilled in me since my childhood by my grandparents. They used to live in the countryside in a large, ancestral house. There was a massive garden surrounding the house and both my grandparents after retiring from their job spend all their time maintaining and taking care of that garden. Since I live in an apartment in the city, I dont have a proper garden so I am going to talk about my grandparents garden where I have spent a lot of time over the years.
My Garden
The garden was so huge that it was divided into several sections – the front yard and the backyard. The front yard consisted of a beautifully mown green lawn separated by the garden path which stretched from the main gate to the front door of the house. The lawns on each side were lined with flowers that used to bloom all year round. There was also a separate place on both sides of the lawn where my grandma would plant seasonal flowers.
The front yard garden belonged to my grandmother and she decided which flower plants will be planted. On the other hand, the backyard section belonged to my grandfather and this section was not as beautifully maintained as the front yard. The grass here was allowed to grow a bit wild and if one looked closely, one could easily spot wildflowers growing here and there.
The backyard was completely dedicated to growing fruits and vegetables. My grandfather used to love organic fruits and vegetables. He was proud of the fact that most of the fruits and vegetables that he ate came from his own garden. One section of the garden was dedicated to growing kitchen vegetables such as potatoes, radishes, cucumbers, tomatoes, green onions, pumpkins, lemons, chilis, garlic, cabbage and broccoli. There was also a herb garden in one side. We were not allowed to play near the vegetable garden, lest, we accidentally damage one of his crops.
On the other side was the fruit garden. There were several fruit trees in this section like mango tree, coconut tree, guava tree, tamarind tree, plum tree, papaya tree, jamun tree etc. This section was our favorite not only because we could climb up the trees and munch ion whichever fruits was in season but also because the trees provided a cool shade. We used to play a lot of games under this shade.
Why I love my grandparents garden
I absolutely loved my grandparents garden and I have a lot of good memories associated with that place. The garden also helped me to understand how important nature is. To quote William wordsworth, “Nature never did betray the heart that loved her.”
My grandparents garden brought me a lot of joy and helped me to create a lot of good memories. The garden was also my safe haven when I was sad or angry and it still is. I still visit this garden once in a while when I feel too overwhelmed by the responsibilities life has thrown at me.
