The term unity in diversity can take us very far. This term refers to peace and harmony among people who are divided by caste, creed, religion, language, nationality, and also a political difference.

This is good for all human beings, and this idea educates them to come together and live in harmony despite the differences they have. The term has been around for a long and its application and use can be traced back to the history of both Eastern countries and the Western countries.

In simple words, exposure to diversity builds a level of tolerance among us, helping us understand the opinions of others.

It also enhances our ability to do teamwork, and we can think on a global level and not be restricted by our local boundaries.

Geographical Diversity

Not only in people, but India also has unity in diversity, even from the perspective of its natural landscapes. The geographical features of the country India are also diverse in many ways. The lands in Punjab are among the most potent soil on earth for agricultural purposes. The Mountainous region of the North also exhibits people of different languages and c cultures.

The Rajasthani Dessert areas also contribute to the diversity that we, as Indians, boast. It offers cultural and linguistic aesthetics beautifying our country like a beautiful bride.  The southern province of the country boasts unique culture, cuisines, and languages from the people of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Telangana, and Karnataka.

But, despite the diversity in geographical aspects, the bond of Indian people has never been weaker. In fact, the diversity part better solidifies the bond.

Religious Diversity

Wherever you look in India, you will see the coexistence of different people, cultures, and religions. It is the world’s most populous country and shelters people from different religions such as Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, Jainism, Christianity, Sikhism, and many other tribal religions. But different these religions may be,  all the people of the country have a general belief in Dharma and Karma doctrine.

The society of India has a god-fearing nature. People here believe in the purification of the soul, salvation, reincarnation, heaven’s luxury, and the punishment of hell. Although people may have different religions, they don’t keep the festivals to themselves alone. They celebrate different festivals such as -Holi, Diwali, Christmas, Eid, Good Friday, Buddha Jayanti, Mahavir Jayanti, Ganesh Chaturthi, etc.

Diversity In Language

In India, Unity in diversity is also visible in terms of language as well. India has no national language. But Hindi is the most prominent language spoken among a huge part of the country’s population. There are other languages as well. For example – Bengali, English, Urdu, Bhojpuri, Bihari, Sanskrit, Punjabi, Odia, Gujarati,  Marathi, Malayali, Kashmiri, etc.
